Pisces Season: We are all Anglerfish

If you have been captivated by the life and death of this icon, this black sea monster, you are not alone. For those who haven’t been bawling their eyes out over this underwater legend, this deep-sea queen made her way from 1,500 meters below the ocean’s surface this week all the way to the light of the sun, a first-ever occurrence. I can think of no better symbol/mascot/aspirational metaphor for Pisces season than this dark beauty. So let’s dive in.

Capricorn season is one of my favorites in the astrological calendar, which is why the Gregorian calendar makes me so full of rage. Co-opted by capitalism and western hustle culture, we’re tricked into believing that after a while and raucous Sagittarius season ruled by the god of debauchery, we’re supposed…work harder?!?

So once again this January I’m here to say:

My journey to reconnect with the folk practices hasn’t stopped at finding the runes, but they have been a portal into my heritage and a guiding light in what promises to be a bizarre yet enlightening undertaking.

As we approach a Full Moon in Taurus on Friday, and as we wade through the muck of the most Scorpio of Scorpio seasons, I can think of no better time to explore the themes of our power goddesses that are the axis between Scorpio and Taurus.
