Why Runes?
I began reading runes as a way to connect with my ancestors. For many thousands of years my ancestors used runes not only as a form of communication - it was the alphabet! - but also for magical purposes and divination. The legacy of this can be seen in the architectural design we call Tudor style today which can trace its roots back to the Norse and Germanic people building runes right into the structure of their homes!
The runes I read are known as the Elder Futhark.
What should I ask the runes?
Runes are finicky. They are said to be a way to communicate directly with the divine. If we think much about Norse mythology - the gods the runes are meant to communicate with - you can probably see how runes, too, might be a little tricky. There are no wrong questions, but there are limiting ones. Ask anything you like, big or small, and I will help to word the question mindfully.
Be prepared to hear more than what you’re asking about!
What does a Rune reading look like?
A brief conversation about your question or area of interest/concern. I might help you narrow down or broaden the wording of your question. Then I pull or toss the runes onto a cloth. I’ll tell you a little about these runes pulled.
We may make connections together: You might find meaning (whether seeming to relate to your question or not), and please share them with me, you are an essential part of the reading!
I’ll consult my notes, charts, signs / omens, and perhaps do some calculations. I might ask you some weird and random questions. At times we may need an additional rune or set of runes for clarity.
Finally, I summarize our session with the final reading, and chat about how it lands with you.
