Embodiment

Movement is an ancient wisdom, a pathway into ourselves, our cultures, our rituals, and our healing.

From yoga, to dance, to shared chores, moving our bodies in community has long been a folk practice.

Embodiment at Folke is movement and yoga for people who want to deepen their relationship with their intuitive bodies. We aim to foster community and connection, honoring yoga’s roots while embracing each person’s unique path, abilities, and needs.

We reject the appropriative, performative, hierarchical, and sanitized version of yoga so often seen in western culture. You are welcome to come as you are, wear what you like, and move or not move however feels right in your body without judgment or funny looks.

Embodiment and Trauma

The link between the body and trauma is strong. To move that trauma through and out of our bodies we must conspire with our bodies to compost, to release.

Join us as we hold space for the complexities of our stored trauma, pain, joy, and bliss.

We contain multitudes, and as we practice together, we will slowly unfold and expand our awareness of mind, body, and spirit with yoga, meditation, breathwork, and somatic practices.
